We open with Scourge training for his upcoming match in his basement gym. He pauses to answer the phone, putting the person on speaker phone.
“Did you think you would get rid of me so easily, Marius?”
The man known to the outside world as Marius Manson lets out an audible sigh.
“What do you want now, crazy lady?”
“How dare you!”
“I dare. Now what the hell do you want?”
“Eventually, to see you burn in Hell for treating me like I didn't raise you! For now, to tell you I'm still here to make your life on this mortal coil as miserable as possible.”
“Aren't you from the generation that does what they're told by their husband? Why are you still bothering me?”
“Such a disrespectful little worm you are. As for my husband, that is none of your concern so stay away!”
“Wow, you really have lost it Jackie. Do you even remember that it was your husband and kids who wanted me to visit? Or have you finally gone so far into la la land that you can't keep anything straight?”
“You sanctimonious son of a bitch! You just wait until I-”
“Until you what? What are you going to do, you decrepit old hag? Sick your dying husband on me? Even if he weren't dying, he's on my side this time. The kids too. So what exactly do you think you're going to do? I'll tell you what you're going to do. Nothing, just like you did to protect me from the old days of John. So how you piss up a rope and go away already.”
“F**k you you miserable bastard! You have no idea what I have cooked up for you. But you're going to find out soon enough.”
“Well listen to the potty mouth on you. Someone should have taught you some manners growing up. I have business to tend to and a call to make to your old man, so I'm gonna let you go now. Have an absolutely dreadful day you crotchety old bitch.”
“Don't you DARE hang up on-”
Scourge proceeds to dial out the call in question. John's voice is heard through the speaker.
“Hi Marius, nice of you to check in.”
“I promised I would I wish I could say it was relating to our working things out but-”
“She's still at it, isn't she?”
“Yep. And I think she might have an actual plan. As nutty as she's becoming, I know enough about this type of thing to know wheels turning when I hear it.”
“That is not good. That is VERY not good.”
“Let's just say that she has...connections. Dangerous ones.”
“Would these connections come after me in the real world? Or do you think they'll send someone after me where it's legal so they can hide behind it?”
“It will likely be at work for exactly the reason you suggested. In fact, I have a feeling I know who it will be.”
“Oh really? Do tell.”
“Not on the phone, just in case. Come see me after your match. Come while the kids are here so they can keep mom away from us if she shows up.”
“Understood. Thanks again for this John.”
“It's not going to make up for our past, but it's something I can do for you now. It's no problem. See you soon.”
“See you soon.”
As Scourge hangs up the phone again, he speaks to the audience for the first time while packing his gear.
“Sorry about that. More on that later I'm sure. For now though, I'm going to talk about the biggest match I've had in several weeks here in CWF. After finally getting back on the winning track last week, I find myself up against the former CWF Champion, Dan Ryan. This may even be bigger than the previous big matches I've had in some ways. After all, I'm not going for any titles this time, but this could put me in line for a shot at the big one if I'm able to pull out a win here. So that is what I must do.
Dan, congratulations on your reign as champion. Condolences on it recently ending. However, you being the former champion now serves as an interesting opportunity for me. Had you not lost, it's unlikely I'd be having this match with you. However, even in defeat you are still the most high profile opponent I have had so far. As a I said earlier, a victory over the previous champion looks awfully good on the way to earning a shot against the current champion. That's not something I'm taking lightly.
I'm also not taking you lightly, Dan. After all, you did hold the prize that I covet most. Not just anyone can claim to have been the top guy in CWF. You defeated a guy held that title for the entire first half of my run here. A man that I wasn't sure anyone could beat at one point. But someone did, and it was you, Dan. You were the destined one, and now you have a new destiny. Your new destiny is to be my stepping stone to MY destiny.
Congratulations Dan, you have earned the honor and privilege of helping me achieve my number one goal. When all is said and done, and I become World Champion, you will be a small but crucial footnote in that tale. You will be the first main event star I defeated on my way to the top. So thank you Dan Ryan for your all important sacrifice this week. I promise I'll thank you in my championship victory speech.
Until then, I'll leave you with this. You are the one considered the star here. I am still working toward that spot. You have everything to lose, and I everything to gain. And gain it I shall...when Darkness Falls.”
With that, Scourge grabs his now fully packed bag and leads the crew out the basement door of his home so he can catch his flight. The flight that could start his path to glory.
