The sterile white walls, despite their brightness, seems dreary. The morning sun tries to fight through both the gray clouds outside and the beige curtain of the hospital room. Standing in front of the camera is Chloe Hawkhurst. Her back to the camera, she is face what we can only presume is a hospital bed with her father laying down behind it. The squeaking of the curtain sliding on the rod breaks the silence, with a doctor stepping out from behind it.
“Your father is very lucky. He’s got a lot of bumps and bruises, and he’s going to be sore for a while, but he’s just fine. He’s got a bad case of exhaustion and some bruising of his spine. The stitches are in. He just needs to rest, and he’ll be fine."
Chloe can only look at the doctor for few moments before she lets out a hushed “Yeah… Thanks.” The doctor pats her on the shoulder sympathetically before leaving the room. Chloe turns towards the camera, and we can see her hair has had blue streaks, similar to Mia’s, added to her hair. She is clutching the CWF Impact Championship to her chest, holding it as tightly as she can with her arms, and her doll the Mia gave her clenched in her right hand.
“This is what my Daddy fought for. My Daddy wanted this belt more than anything. Daddy told me that he was going to win back the Impact title and he did.”
Chloe looks around the room, looking for direction, and finding none.
“I hope Daddy and Taxi are still frands. I like Taxi. He brings me things like masks and shirts and flu...flu… a fancy trumpet.”
Chloe looks down at the Impact Championship.
“Before he fell asleep, I asked him why he wanted this so bad. He told me it proved he was one of the best because he had to beat one of the best to get it. That’s what we are you know. We are the best. Not just Taxi and my dad, but Mia and Uncle Shadow, too. The only reason the Smokin’ Aces beat them is because they are cheaters. They stole that win and they did it because they know they can’t beat The Forsaken themselves.”
Chloe smiles widely.
“I know something you don’t know. Freddie… Douche… Taxi and Daddy are going to kick your ass. You’re lucky because you don’t have to put your belts up, cause Daddy and Tax would take them from you. My dad’s been teaching people lessons, and you two need to learn you don’t mess with the Forsaken. We are many, but we are one. You want to screw Miss Mia and Uncle Shadow? Uh uh! I’m not going to let that happen. When Daddy and ATaxia get a hold of you, you’re gonna get it.”
Chloe clutches her doll bringing it up to her face. A few tears fall as she looks over at her father.
“I really wish Miss Mia was here. Or Taxi or Uncle Shadow or anyone. I can't cry. Daddy wanted this. Daddy asked for this. He knew what was going to happen. Right?”
Chloe Hawkhurst might be a bit of a spitfire most of the time, but she has her somber moments. This would be one of them. Think about how you would feel if you were 9 years old, with no one there to support you as you sat and watched your father unresponsive.
“I know what I can do.”
Chloe grabs her father's cell phone from the table next to his bed. She looks through his contacts and pushes a button. You can hear the phone ring and then go to voicemail.
“Hey, it's Chloe. I'm with my dad at the hospital. I need someone to talk to. Miss Mia, please call me back please. Love you.”
Chloe sighs in disappointment as she begins looking through her father's contacts some more. She pushes a button and the phone rings once more. The phone once again goes to voicemail. The Shadows voice comes through.
Chloe lets out another exasperated sigh. This time, she hangs up without leaving a message. She scrolls through the phone once more, but seemingly hesitates before pushing the button.
“I don't know if I should call Taxi. I mean, he did put Daddy in here. But Daddy did mean things to him. Daddy said it was “tough love” and that he was “teaching Taxi a lesson” I don't know if I should call him or not.”
Chloe seems to struggle a few more moments with the decision before finally hitting the send button. The phone can be heard ringing, but once again, she is met with an outgoing voice message.
“Hi, Taxi. It's Chloe. Please don't be mad at my Daddy. He was just trying to help. Need to talk if you can. Thanks, bye.”
Chloe takes a deep breath before finally hitting the end button. She looks up, and sees the camera crew.
“Oh, you’re still here.”
“Yeah, we’re trying to get an update on how Dorian is.”
“In case you butt holes didn't notice, he's not doing very well at all. But my Daddy is a tough cookie. And Daddy told me that tough cookies don't crumble. He's going to be ready for his match against the Smoking Aces. He's going to show up at the next Evolution show, and he is going to get them back for what they did to Uncle Shadow and Miss Mia.”
Chloe holds the doll up to the camera.
“Miss Mia loves me. And me and my Daddy love her. We love Uncle shadow. Daddy and Ataxia won't let the Smokin’ Aces get away with what they did. The belts that they hold don't mean anything. What means something is protecting the people you love. And I'm sad. I'm sad because I couldn't protect Miss Mia. I'm pissed off. It's bullshit that the Smokin’ Aces did that. And I know my Daddy wouldn't like me saying that, but it's true.”
The tears are flowing down Chloe’s face.
“When you mess with one of the Forsaken, you mess with all of us. When you screwed us over, you messed up. That was the dumbest thing you could have done. You haven't seen my Daddy angry, have you? I don't like what him and Taxi did to each other, but I know that if they would do that to each other, I can only imagine what they would do to you.”
“There’s a wicked old song my Daddy used to listen to. It’s like ‘I get knocked down, but I get up again. You’re never gonna keep me down.’ That’s what my Daddy does each and every day.”
“You two are fakers. Spongebob Liarpants. I hate you. I hate you. I HATE YOU!”
One of the nurses pops his head in. Chloe looks at him meekly.
“Daddy wants to teach you all a lesson. He hasn't told me, but I know. We don't do the church thing, but I know the Golden Rule. But we Hawkhursts are taught do unto others as they do to you. I don't think you dummies know who God is. Just get down on your knees, bow your head, and ask God for help. When Daddy and Ataxia get a hold of you, if you don't know God, you're gonna want to meet him.”
“Cassandra hit me with a freaking frying pan. She hit a kid with a frying pan. Who does that? Both my dad and Taxi have beat each other so much, and they always come back. You can hurt us. You can beat us. But you can't hold us down. We are everything you are not. We are the antidote. You will hate us, but you will have to realize - we are all you have left… we are…”
Dorian sits up in his bed. He is wearing an Ataxia mask over his face.
The scene suddenly cuts out, with Dorian’s hooded face being the last thing we see.
